Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally inspired Word of God. (2
Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe in the total depravity and lost condition of all people by nature.
(Romans 3:11-18, 5:12).
We believe in the triune of God–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
We believe in the personality of God’s holy angels and of Satan and his fallen angels.
(Hebrews 1:14; 1 Peter 5:8; Matthew 25:41)
We believe in the virgin birth, deity, and bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:1; Luke 24:36-39)
We believe in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the only atonement for sin.
(Ephesians 1:7; Matthew 20:28).
We believe in justification by faith in Christ and the eternal security of the believer.
(John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:28; John 10:28-29)
We believe God the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin and regenerates, indwells, enlightens,
and empowers the saved.
(Acts 5:3-4; John 16:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; Galatians 5:16)
We believe the saved in this dispensation are members of the body of Christ, the Church, and are to be
obedient to Him in all things.
(Ephesians 1:22-23; John 14:15)
We believe that Christ instituted the ordinances of baptism (by immersion) and the Lord’s Supper to be
observed by the Church.
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-39; Luke 22:19-20)
We believe the saved are called to a life of Godliness and Holiness.
(1 John 2:15-17; 1 Peter 1:14-16; Titus 2:11-12)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead- of blessedness and joy with the Lord and of the unbeliever
to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
(1 Peter 1:4-5; Revelation 20:11-15)
We believe that the term “Marriage” has only one legitimate meaning, and that is marriage sanctioned by God
which joins one Man and one Woman in a single covenantal union, as delineated by scripture.
(Genesis 2:24, 19:5; 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Mark 10: 6-9; Romans 1:26-29; 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:9; 1 Thessalonians
4:1-8; Hebrews 4:13)

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We believe that the foregoing statements of faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible.

Our Foundaton

The Lehigh Valley was introduced to Salem Christian School in 1979 with the intent to be a Lehigh Valley Christian school that serves students and partners with parents in Lehigh, Berks, Northampton, Montgomery, and Bucks counties. That year, the Deacon Board of Salem Bible Church, with the encouragement of Pastor Rick Goodman and several church families, recognized the need for a Lehigh Valley Christian school that would assist parents in bringing up their children “…in the training and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4). Pastor Goodman was concerned for the future of this country if it continued educating future generations without God and the Bible. The resulting vision led to the establishment of Salem Christian School.
About Our School 1

Classes began in September of 1979 with 17 students enrolled in an ACE program. Pastor Goodman was the first principal with Mr. Tom Wetzel and Mrs. Pam Wersler as teachers. As the church continued to grow in size and in numbers, so did the ministry of Salem Christian School. As classrooms and a multipurpose room were added, the ACE program transitioned to conventional classrooms with qualified professional teachers. Today, Salem Christian School serves over 200 students from 12 school districts.

A music room, additional classrooms, and a chapel were added next. A full-court gymnasium and a science lab were added, allowing for further growth and expansion of programs. A 500-seat auditorium and a lunch room were completed. Continued growth led to the addition of a new and larger kitchen, computer lab, locker rooms, and a new playground. What was once the original church building, was refurbished in late 2024 and allows the church a designated space to function throughout the week.

God continues to bless the educational ministry of Salem Christian School, which hosts preschool through 12th grade. In 2015 Salem Christian School received accreditation from both ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Salem Christian School continues to be dedicated to its mission of developing students who love God with all their mind, body, and soul. Through strong academics, innovative practices, technologically advanced infrastructure, and God’s grace, we are confident that SCS will continue to grow for generations to come.

our Strengths

1. Student Activities

Looking beyond the Salem classroom walls, one will find more than just a quality education. We are a robust and vibrant Christian school community. Often, we hear it’s referred to as a “family”. We purposefully ensure that all aspects of the student’s experience is rooted in the Gospel of Christ. We are committed to developing students who love God in all aspects of their being. To these ends, we provide students opportunities to explore their interests, pursue their passions, and excel in ways that God has uniquely gifted them.

There is special attention given to the student experience at Salem Christian School. There are competitions, student council, discipleship groups, clubs, student learning communities, homeroom activities, all-school events, division level celebrations and so much more that brighten the student’s experience. Great care has been taken to ensure that outside of the classroom and extracurricular programs are as vibrant as the academic and interscholastic programs. We encourage students to take advantage of the many opportunities in order to practically apply and develop skills necessary for confident Christian leadership and challenge themselves to strive for excellence.

About Our School 2

2. Spiritual Development

Student life at Salem Christian School is permeated by a spiritual emphasis. Our vision is to assist parents in developing a God-centered worldview in their children by providing a vibrant educational and spiritual environment where Godly character and unity in Christ can flourish, thereby enabling students to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action. We desire see our students to continue to impact the Lehigh Valley, Eastern Pennsylvania, and into the rest of the world. Therefore, Bible is a vital subject that is taught in engaging and age-appropriate ways each day. It begins with character studies in elementary and moves systematically throughout the years to culminating senior courses that hopefully entrench the students in a Christian worldview.
About Our School 3

3. Leadership Development

Beyond the student council, team captains, and other leadership positions, our students are given the opportunity to learn leadership skills through practical training and conferences. Salem Christian School seeks to encourage and inspire students toward a standard of excellence in leadership, communication, and performance by enhancing our student life and academic and fine arts programs. Activities and events seek to provide opportunities for the students to engage with the students in our school and to obtain a positive interaction between students and teachers of other participating schools. Several middle school and high school students are able to attend the leadership conference that are presented for their stage in life in order to help them develop life-long leadership skills. Much of our leadership development is through service. Jesus, our ultimate example, came to serve not be served. Therefore, any leader should be a servant leader. This principle of servant-leadership is why we see leadership development first as serving the community we live and influencing them for the sake of the Gospel.
About Our School 4

Employment

Salem Christian School’s primary purpose is to assist parents in their divinely appointed responsibility to raise their children in the truth of God’s word. We believe that all truth is God’s truth. The Bible is the only completely accurate guide to understanding truth. A proper education must rest on a Scriptural foundation. Salem Christian School strives to provide a Biblically based, Christ-centered education. We seek to provide an environment in which students can discover their unique abilities and exercise their God-given talents to the ultimate end of glorifying their Creator. The course of study and related activities should be viewed as opportunities through which they can express obedience to God. A strong effort is made to help students achieve their full potential spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52)
